Cold Buster Ginger-Turmeric Drink – A complete Vitamin C packed drink to help fight the “Cold & Flu” blues
It’s absolutely beautiful sunny weather right now, can’t ask for more. The sun is shining, not a dark cloud in site, a very mild breeze of wind. What more can one ask for? But, in my case … I can ask for more. This whole week has been a complete write-off, I have no idea how or where I caught this cold, but it has left me completely exhausted and tired. 🙁 I’m not big on taking cold medicines or any other antibiotics to cure the common cold. Instead I like to try my own home made remedies to fight the nasty cold/flu.
This is exactly what I did. We all know that to get better we need to build a stronger immune system. A strong immune system means the body needs loads of Vitamin C. I came up with super-duper “Vitamin C” packed drink that is guaranteed to help fight the common cold and get you energized and moving again. That’s exactly what happen too me! 🙂 A lot of the ingredients that I used in my “Cold Buster Lemon Orange Drink” are found right in our kitchens.
“Cold Buster Lemon Orange Drink” is made of Lemon tea, Orange juice, Grapefruit juice, Ginger, Honey, Salt and my star ingredient “Turmeric“. It’s best to us the fresh turmeric root, but if that’s not handy then no problem add in a generous amount of turmeric powder (haldi) works the same and the end result is guaranteed.
This drink has no right or wrong recipe and no right method to follow; it’s a drink that will help you combat the common cold, regain your energy and start building back the lost immunity. Everyday life is so busy and we come into contact with so many different people, in different place that it’s close to impossible to know really where we caught the cold virus. A lot of us with little children know very well that kids pick up all kinds of different viruses and bacteria at school, camp and playground.
This drink is perfect for drinking every day, not just when we get sick. It will help you regulate and maintain a strong and healthy immune system. The power in “ginger” and “turmeric” is amazing.
“Turmeric contains curcumin, which is hailed for its antioxidant properties, antibacterial properties, stimulates our adrenal glands and has even been found to actually help rebuild the immune system. Ginger, its cousin and the other half of this power couple, has been shown to reduce inflammation and is a powerful decongestants. The powers of these herbs are only enhanced when combined with a spice like cayenne or black pepper. -Turmeric Life”
